A new Emerson College Polling/The Hill survey of Colorado’s 8th Congressional District finds 48% of voters support Democrat Yadira Caraveo, while 46% support Republican Gabe Evans. Seven percent are undecided ahead of Election Day.

Since the early October Emerson poll, Caraveo’s support increased four points, from 44% to 48%, and Evans’ support increased two points, from 44% to 46%, and the number of undecideds decreased from 12% to 7%.

“There is a significant gender divide separating the two congressional candidates; Evans leads among men 55% to 42%, while Caraveo leads among women 52% to 37%,” Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, said.

In the presidential election, 49% of Colorado’s 8th district voters support Vice President Kamala Harris, while 48% support former president Donald Trump. Three percent support someone else and 1% are undecided.

The top issue for voters is the economy, at 34%, followed by housing affordability at 16%, immigration at 15%, and threats to democracy at 12%.

Methodology

The Emerson College Polling/KDVR/KWGN/The Hill Colorado 8th district survey was conducted October 24-26, 2024. The sample of CO 8 district likely voters is n=485, with a credibility interval, similar to a poll’s margin of error (MOE), of +/- 4.4 percentage points.

The data sets were weighted by gender, education, race, age, and party affiliation based on 2024 likely voter modeling. Turnout modeling is based on U.S. Census parameters, exit polling, and voter registration data.

It is important to remember that subsets based on demographics, such as gender, age, education, and race/ethnicity, carry with them higher credibility intervals, as the sample size is reduced. Survey results should be understood within the poll’s range of scores, and with a confidence interval of 95% a poll will fall outside the range of scores 1 in 20 times.

Data was collected by contacting cell phones via MMS-to-web text (phone list provided by Aristotle) and an online panel of voters provided by CINT. The survey was offered in English.
