Since September, Bolduc has gained five points and Hassan has lost three

The latest Emerson College Polling/WHDH 7 News survey of New Hampshire voters finds a three-point race for US Senate between Senator Maggie Hassan and her Republican opponent Don Bolduc. Hassan leads 48% to 45%; 4% are undecided. The September Emerson poll in New Hampshire found Hassan leading Bolduc by an 11-percentage-point margin, 51% to 40%. Since then, Hassan has lost three percentage points and Bolduc has gained five percentage points.

In the Governor Race, Sununu leads men by 25 points and women by one percentage point.”

Kimball added, “Hassan has the majority and plurality of support of voters under 35 and voters over 65, whereas Bolduc’s support is strongest among voters between 35 and 65, with whom he holds the plurality of support.”

Regardless of whom voters support for US Seante, a majority of voters (58%) expect Senator Hassan to win while 42% expect Bolduc to win.

Nearly half (49%) view both Senator Hassan and Don Bolduc favorably, while 46% view Bolduc unfavorably and 49% view Hassan unfavorably.

In the gubernatorial election, Republican Governor Chris Sununu leads his Democratic challenger Tom Sherman 52% to 40%, with 5% undecided. Since September, Sununu has stayed stagnant at 52% and Sherman has gained three percentage points.

The economy is the most important issue for 40% of New Hampshire voters, followed by abortion access (22%), and threats to democracy (15%).

President Joe Biden holds a 52% disapproval among New Hampshire voters, while 40% view the President favorably. In a hypothetical 2024 matchup between President Biden and former President Donald Trump, 44% would support Biden and 43% Trump; 11% would vote for someone else.

Methodology

The Emerson College Polling survey of New Hampshire voters was conducted October 18-19, 2022. The sample consisted of very likely general election voters, n=727, with a margin of error (MOE) of +/- 3.6 percentage points. The data sets were weighted by gender, age, education, race, party registration, and region based on 2022 turnout modeling. It is important to remember that subsets based on demographics carry with them higher margins of error, as the sample size is reduced. Data was collected using a cellphone sample using SMS-to-web, an online panel, a voter registration list of emails, and an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system of landlines.
